Designing Custom Acrylic Standees: Multi-Layer Assembly & Base Slot Tolerances
Learn how to engineer sturdy acrylic display figures with zero-wobble base slots and multi-layer foreground/background dioramas.
Written by Skivyn Engineering & Prepress Team
Acrylic standees are tabletop display figures that require precise mechanical fit between the bottom tab of the figure and the base slot cutout.
### 1. Calibrating Tab & Slot Width
Due to acrylic sheet casting thickness variances (±10%), a standard 3.5mm sheet might range between 3.3mm and 3.7mm. At Skivyn, our precision laser cutting uses slight taper compensation so the tab slides in securely without cracking.
### 2. Multi-Layer Diorama Planning
- Layer 1 (Foreground): Small props, pets, weapons, or name banner.
- Layer 2 (Main Character): Primary focal figure.
- Layer 3 (Background): Ambient architecture, clouds, moon, or frame.
